KELOWNA, B.C. — Anna Kernaghan poured in a career-high and the Winnipeg Wesmen women's basketball team got back in the win column Friday night.

Kernaghan, a freshman guard, scored a career-high 21 points and the Wesmen pulled away in the third quarter en route to a 67-60 Canada West conference victory over the UBC-Okanagan Heat.

The win was the seventh victory in the past nine games for the Wesmen, who dropped back-to-back home games against the Calgary Dinos last weekend.

The Wesmen, who led 34-29 at half, pulled away with a 21-12 third quarter, which included a 9-2 run coming out of half.

Robyn Boulanger added 14 points for the Wesmen (9-6), who shot 44.4 per cent from the field and won despite shooting just nine free throws to UBCO's 23.

Jaeli Ibbetson led the Heat (2-15) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Falk had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Kasey Patchell added 11 off the bench and Jordan Korol had a game-high 23 rebounds.
