
EDMONTON — The Winnipeg Wesmen were outscored 46-31 in the second half and dropped their first decision of the conference season Friday night.
The Wesmen men's basketball team had a nine-point second-half lead but the Alberta Golden Bears went on a late run to secure an 84-72 Canada West conference victory.
Winnipeg (2-1) was outscored 24-19 in the third quarter and 23-12 in the fourth as Alberta improved to 3-0.
Narcisse Ambanza had 19 points, six rebounds and two steals to lead the Wesmen. Don Dayrit added 13 points.
Dwan Williams led four Bears players in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Tyus Jefferson added 14, Ivan Ikomey and Adam Paige 11 each and Andre Kelly 10.
The Wesmen shot 27 of 63 from the field, 6-for-23 from three and 12-for-21 from the free-throw line.
Alberta was 31-for-73, 8-for-24 and 14-for-18.
